SheMag: What skills have you learned that will help you in your music career?
Blvck Jagger: I had to learn to master every human emotion. So I could always choose what was best for me at any time so decision making is huge. Meditation and mastery over my breathing was and is still the most essential skill. To alway bring myself to a present place to make great decisions and keep my mind clear to create. I learned patience and I learned business. How to separate personal affairs from business matters is very key.
SheMag: What made you decide to pursue a career in entertainment?
Blvck Jagger: I actually just decide to pursue my talents and that my Creator gave me. Never pursued fame and fortune. It’s all about purpose my art is about the equation for a better life for people so I approach my craft in that manner with that manner of responsibility. My gifts and my talents are not for me I’m just a representation of what’s being channeled through me.
SheMag: Tell us about your track “Welcome to L.A.”.
Blvck Jagger: Well it started with an Idea I had i wanted to do a record that felt like a feature with John Mayer on the guitar. So i called my buddy Zach Fenske who is a genius guitarist, songwriter and producer. We worked at one of my favorite studios in the Valley “Last Ever” I wrote the song originally to just the guitar. It was supposed tooriginally be an acoustic release so I still have that version I’ll release at some point. From there I linked in some producers I trusted to give a feel that was like a souvenir almost for the city of Los Angeles like the actual theme song. On a perfect day, free of care in the sun that’s what it sounds like. My boys Don City and Erik “Blu2th” Griggs and Tony Harvey and Garryl Bohanon. Great record start to finish. The Label approved and it’s doing great I’m excited for the push this summer. Lots of content.
SheMag: What kind of singer would you classify yourself as?
Blvck Jagger: I’m a truth singer. I sing my truth and my spirit. I’m never trying to right or fit into anything. I just want it to be an expression of authentic free thought and emotion. Genuine me.
SheMag: Do you attend sessions? What makes a good session?
Blvck Jagger: High Energy, High thoughts, laughter, great open hearts and minds, a guitar and or a piano with smiles, love, food and camaraderie. Great record every time.
SheMag: What has been the best performance of your career so far?
Blvck Jagger: My best performance of my career was I’m not sure but one of my favorite was at The Sayers Club in Hollywood, on a Friday night I did a show with a Recording artist named Major and my MD was Andre Troutman. We tore it down that night
SheMag: How do you cope with being away from home for long periods?
Blvck Jagger: Very well because I’ve come to the realization home is where ever my temple is and since it’s with me all the time I am always at home because I’m now comfortable with my whole being. But it wasn’t always this way.
