Gardens are truly romantic spots. Gorgeous flowers in multiple shades perfume the air, breezes gently make tree branches wave, and all of it is illuminated by the golden sun. Garden weddings are romantic and beautiful.
To truly make your garden wedding memorable, let nature dictate your decor. If the garden you choose is a manicured one, serve elegant food on crisp table linens with shining silverware and monogrammed napkins. If the garden is more rambling and natural, you can go an entirely different direction. Use delicate table linens that will move in the breeze. Eyelet lace or delicate embroidery are great options. Go with the farm feel of a natural garden by setting up a buffet of local foods complete with big jugs of lemonade and iced tea.
Flea markets are wonderful places to look for items to decorate your garden wedding reception venue. Look for mismatched vintage linens or teacups for serving coffee. Look for mason jars for serving drinks or find vintage lanterns to hang from the trees to illuminate your reception.
Let the garden choose your wedding colors. Use ivory or white as your main color, and let multicolored flowers have the spotlight. Pick flowers from the garden and place them in bud vases on each table or wrap chairs in tulle and knot it around a single bud on the back of each chair. Use garden flowers to top your cake instead of the traditional cake topper. Spotlight beautiful trees by wrapping them in white lights that will provide a glow as the sun sets.
When choosing guest favors, stick with the garden theme. Give each guest a little potted plant to take home or provide everyone with a cone of potpourri that will evoke memories of the perfumed air that surrounded your ceremony.
Keep in mind that you can have a beautiful garden wedding even if your garden at home is not as lush as you would like or if you just don’t have the space in your yard for all of your guests. There are plenty of wedding reception venues that cater to couples looking for a garden wedding experience. These venues have beautifully manicured lawns and gardens where you can hold your ceremony and reception. They provide perfect backdrops for your wedding pictures and give guests plenty of places to explore when they need a break from all the dancing they’ll do at your reception.
